On 23 May 2019 government passed a piece of legislation, known as the Buckinghamshire Structural Changes Order, that means that a brand new council will be created from April 2020. The new council will replace the current five councils – Aylesbury Vale District Council, Buckinghamshire County Council, Chiltern District Council, South Bucks District Council and Wycombe District Council – which will cease to exist on 31 March 2020. The new council will be known as Buckinghamshire Council and therefore a new brand or ‘identity’ will need to be created.
Branding is important – help us get it right by joining us at one of five focus groups across the county to look at the options for a logo, colours, and style for the new Buckinghamshire Council.

We’re looking for people from all walks of life – all we ask is that you live in Buckinghamshire. If you would like to join a focus group, please email Beth at email@example.com with a few details about yourself and which group you would like to take part in. Everyone who takes part in a focus group will be given a £25 Love2Shop voucher to say thank you.
Details of the session
Each focus group will take about an hour – we will go over three potential design concepts for the new council branding with you, including a new logo, colours, fonts, and style. We are not looking for branding or design geniuses (although they are, of course, welcome), we just want a range of local people to tell us what they think, and help shape how our new council will look for the future.
The Small Print – FAQs
Can I just turn up?
No, we’re asking anyone who is interested to please book a place by emailing Beth at firstname.lastname@example.org, saying which group you would like to attend. There are 12 spaces available on each session. Applications for the sessions will be open until the day before each one, or when they are full.
I work at one of the existing councils, can I join a focus group?
These sessions are aimed at residents only; employees of any of the five councils and elected members will have their own focus groups.
What are you going to do with my data?
We are not collecting your information or contact details for any reason other than to ensure diversity in our groups and they will not be shared or saved for use after the sessions. Sessions will be recorded to allow for analysis of the discussion, the content will not be shared or used for any other reason than to help us finalise the new branding for the Buckinghamshire Council.
How much is being spent on putting on these sessions?
The cost to these sessions is minimal; everything from the brand design to running the focus groups on the day has been delegated to in-house officers. We will reward all applicants who participate in a full session with a £25 Love2Shop voucher, given at the end of the session, so there is a cost attached to that.
How are we keeping branding costs as low as possible?
In-house designers from across the existing councils are working together to develop the new Buckinghamshire Council brand. It is our intention that we will rebrand the Council’s assets as sustainably as possible, thinking carefully about the financial and environmental impact. We will only reprint or replace items where it is absolutely necessary, for example, to comply with the law.
